GAME DAY: XR Exploration Tour Concluded Successfully!

On March 6th, the first-ever Game Day + Lab Tour exploration event organized by the XR+AI Association of The Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (Guangzhou) was successfully held! The event attracted over 100 students, faculty, and staff to participate. Attendees had the opportunity to visit the Dynamic Reconstruction and Applied Meta Studio (DREAMS Lab) and the Joint Metaverse Innovation Laboratory, where they gained in-depth insights into cutting-edge XR+AI technologies and personally experienced a variety of high-end XR devices and popular immersive games and applications.

President's Visit, Inspiring Technological Innovation

On the day of the event, Professor Ni, President of The Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (Guangzhou), made a special appearance. He highly commended the founding mission of the XR+AI Association and endorsed its three-step membership growth path of "Play, Learn, Make". President Ni expressed strong encouragement for faculty and students to actively explore the forefront of XR+AI technologies, promote innovative applications across various fields, and translate academic achievements into practical solutions to address market pain points. His guidance not only charted a clear direction for the association's development but also added further motivation and energy to the event.

In-Depth Lab Tour, Unveiling XR Frontier Technologies

During the lab tour session, participants were divided into groups to visit the Joint Metaverse Innovation Laboratory and the DREAMS Lab. They listened to staff explain the daily R&D activities of XR+AI technologies and experienced the charm of innovative technologies up close. Additionally, XR devices such as the Vision Pro, Quest 3, and Pico 4 were available for hands-on experiences, allowing everyone to truly grasp the limitless potential of XR technologies.

XR Game Party, Learning Through Fun

The subsequent XR game party brought the atmosphere to its peak! Participants freely explored four major types of immersive games, including shooting, music, movie-watching, and simulation. Classic games such as Super HotBeat Saber, and Robo Recall allowed everyone to fully immerse themselves in the virtual world, experiencing the captivating allure of XR.

Free Exchange, Building the Future of XR Together

At the end of the event, attendees engaged in relaxed and enjoyable exchanges, connecting with like-minded XR enthusiasts. Many students shared that the event not only broadened their horizons but also helped them find potential research collaborators, laying a solid foundation for their future explorations in technology.
