Application

Data Acquisition from Multi-Angle Camera Array

A multi-camera array device is a system composed of multiple cameras, typically arranged in specific geometric configurations (such as circular, linear, or spherical). It can simultaneously capture image or video data from different angles. Through the fusion and processing of multi-angle data, the system can generate richer and more accurate information, making it widely applicable in scientific research, industrial inspection, entertainment, security, and other fields. The multi-camera array at the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (Guangzhou) features strong synchronization and high precision. It uses 80 cameras to capture dynamic images, providing a wide range of services for users in various fields.

Advantages

  • High-Precision Data Acquisition: The multi-camera system can simultaneously capture data from multiple angles, reducing the limitations of single-angle perspectives and effectively minimizing occlusion of target objects. This provides more comprehensive and accurate information. Our device is equipped with 80 high-definition cameras, capturing both RGB and IR images. The positions and orientations of the cameras have been pre-calibrated with high precision, with errors within millimeters.
  • High Efficiency: Multi-angle data acquisition is completed in one pass, eliminating the need for repeated operations and significantly improving work efficiency. The number and arrangement of cameras can be adjusted according to specific needs, making it suitable for different scenarios (such as small-scale industrial inspection or large-scale motion capture).
  • High Synchronization: All cameras are synchronized through a synchronizer, with timing difference between cameras kept below 1ms. This greatly reduces errors caused by dynamic movements of objects. Our device can provide dynamic synchronized video at 22 FPS.
